Day 6

Rain
We had nasty rain all night and early this morning. We didn't go out till it let up.

Hotel Zone
Mom wanted to try her luck at the Holiday Inn casino because it's open early.

Beach
I wanted to walk the beach, but a big storm was coming. It started raining, so I went to get mom to go to lunch.

Tomato Charlie's
We went to Tomato Charlie's again for lunch.

Panaderia
There are two bakeries across the street from each other just past our resort and we walked there this afternoon and bought some cookies, an apple pastry and a piece of marble pound cake.

Wacky Woman
On our way back, we saw a woman who is staying at our resort and she said she was going downtown and offered to give us a ride. She wears a multi-colored sequin hat, dances wildly with the staff, and is in her 60's. She has been an owner at CPV for 20 years and also owns a house in Portugal and lives in Toronto with her ex-husband, but her boyfriend is in Vermont. She's also a Queen of the Red Hat Society. She travels way more than I do!

Downtown
We all went our separate ways. Isabelle went to look for a watch battery, mom went to the casino and I went shopping (just to pass time as they are the same stores I've been in a million times). I went to a grocery store and bought mom a bag of Cheeseburger flavored Cheeto's. On my way there, I ran into a guy who I was asking about directions and as I was walking away, he said, "by the way, you look really nice." Then, he asked me if I wanted to go dancing and I told him that I brought my mom...he said bring her with! LOL

Paddock
We ate dinner at the ocean front at Paddock restaurant. We didn't get to see the sunset though.

Caribbean Palm Village
We were going to hang out tonight, but it was dead at the resort. Apparently everyone went out for the evening. I came to the pool to blog and met the family from Michigan on their way out to dinner. The father and 27-year-old son asked me to go on the drinking bus tour with them. LOL

Mosquitos
I can't believe how many mosquitos there are. They all found me! My legs haven't looked like this since I was a little kid. Mom doesn't have any, I suspect that I get them when I'm outside blogging at night.

Casinos
It was only 7:00 p.m., so we decided to go back to the hotel zone (I thought it would keep mom's mind off of dad anyhow). We started at the Westin then walked to the RIU. Since the RIU is all-inclusive, I just checked out the gift shop and then waited on an over sized, ornate char outside the casino door for mom. Two men (a father and a son) came by and teased that I should charge a cover charge. Then, they came back and talked to me for a long time until mom finally came looking for me! LOL Their names were Chris (son) and John (dad) from Houston. They did not particularly like this RIU and they have stayed at many RIUs. They didn't like the food and felt that it was geared more towards couples.

Westin
Went back to the Westin to listen to the band, but first we were told they would start at 10:00, then 10:15 and then 10:30. That's island time for you! Well, they weren't even setting up yet, so we decided to head back for the evening.
